This photo shows Seattle police and King County deputies on the scene of a fatal shooting that occurred in White Center on Oct. 3, 2023. The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday as the bus pulled up to a stop near 15th Ave SW and SW Roxbury St in White Center. Witnesses then saw the shooter, and possibly a second suspect, jump off the bus and runoff.
Many riders and people who live and work in the neighborhood said what is needed are added security measures.“On the buses, maybe we need a little more safety because this is not the first time,” said Gerardo Rios, who works across the street from the shooting scene. “Here, there are many problems on the buses."
“Yesterday at 5:11 PM KCSO Metro Deputies responded to a shooting on board of a metro bus at the location of SW Roxbury and 15th Ave SW. It is unfortunate to report that after an extensive search with Guardian 1, K9 Teams, Drones, and the assistance of Seattle PD we were not able to apprehend the person responsible for this tragic event. I do not have information to provide on the victim, nor a description of the person responsible.
