Temporary lockdown lifted at South Davis Jr. High School; student mistakes phone for gunTemporary lockdown lifted at South Davis Jr. High School after false firearm report. South Davis Jr. High School experienced a temporary lockdown Wednesday afternoon following a report of a student possibly in possession of a firearm.
According to the Bountiful City Police Department, officers responded to the school quickly and determined that the report was false. "We responded to a call; the call was that shots were fired inside the school, so our police officers responded," Bountiful Police Chief Ed Biehler said."We're not sure where the shots fired portion of this came from because shots were never fired. I think the person just misidentified a cell phone as a gun, and then somewhere in the translation, there was just a misunderstanding," Biehler said.
The Davis County School District spokesperson, Chris Williams, also confirmed that the lockdown at South Davis Junior High School had been lifted, and the school was dismissed as scheduled.
