WWD spoke with eight queer influencers who are redefining “influencer” and creating an impact in their own signature ways.

“Born and raised in Rioverde, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, I moved to the United States after getting my bachelor’s degree in graphic design. In 2013, I accepted a social media manager position for a gay dating app ; I also started writing for their blog, where we shared important news on LGBTQ issues. At the same time, I started my blog iammanchic.com.

“At the beginning of my blogger career, I was trying so hard to “fit in” within the men’s wear scene, so I was dressing super dapper and going for that style because I thought that’s what the people wanted to see. But after leaving NYC in 2016 and going back to Texas, I started shifting my focus from men’s wear to lifestyle and LGBTQ travel and showcasing more of who I am.

“I consider myself as someone creative, fun and always thinking outside the box. I’m glad the fashion industry is embracing all types of content creators because, back in the day, I was afraid of being ‘too queer’ or ‘too risque’ on my posts out of fear of driving brand partnerships away.
