The Witcher has become increasingly faithful to its source material as the show has gone on, but it still makes a lot of character changes and plot deviations that have left fans upset.
7 Vattier De Rideaux Vattier de Rideaux is another high-ranking member of the Nilfgaardian bureaucracy. Vattier serves as the head of military intelligence for Emperor Emhyr, and he is instrumental in planning the infamous coup on Thanned. He is probably Emhyr's closest advisor, and he is also instrumental in planning the Second Northern War, though that war is not the brightest moment in Nilfgaard's history.
Regis is also around 400 years old, and as such, he has a massive breadth of knowledge on a wide range of subjects. He is one of the most intelligent, thought-provoking characters in the series. Excluding Regis would be one of the worst decisions The Witcher could possibly make. However, the show will have to be careful to get him right.
3 Duchess Anna Henrietta Duchess Anna Henrietta, the ruler of Toussaint, is an important figure in both The Witcher books and the games. She is a former lover of Jaskier's, and she provides sanctuary to Geralt and his party when they hit a dead end in their search for Ciri. She becomes the Duchess in her own right after her abusive husband dies of apoplexy two years before Geralt and his company reach Toussiant.
