The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office reported that David Macfarlane, a 64-year-old man from Park City, was swept away by an avalanche while skiing with friends near the Lost Trail Ski area in Montana.Deputies said one of the members in the group found Macfarlane buried in the snow after the slide and tried to dig him out.
Despite the group's and emergency services' efforts, Macfarlane died from his injuries before the medical helicopter arrived.
