It was safe to say they had Jacksonville’s number.
Houston converted only two of its first 10 third-down attempts. It didn’t matter if the distance was short or long, the Texans still struggled. The distances on those third downs were: -1, -1, -6, -4, -4, -8, -5, -7, -8, -20. The Jaguars were playing zone, and Moore and Cooks both ran post routes and appeared to get open. But Mills saw the pressure and didn’t see Moore or Cooks flash open. He dumped it off to Burkhead, who was running a delayed route in the flat, and was stopped well short of the sticks.
Houston ran for 84 yards as a team. Mills was the leading rusher with 33 yards, mostly from scrambles. Running back Dare Ogunbowale added 21 yards on seven carries, while Royce Freeman ran for 19 yards on seven carries. But the Texans must figure something out for their final game because they can’t win with Mills making 40 pass attempts.Analytics show that when a team wins the turnover battle, chances of winning greatly increase.But they didn’t even get close to defeating the Jaguars.
