Ambiguity, season ticket sales and contract questions were among the highlights of Dallas’ first training camp news conference.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones speaks to the media during his opening press conference at the start of Dallas Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard, California, July 25, 2024.OXNARD, Calif. — Jerry and Stephen Jones sat on either side of Mike McCarthy for the press conference to open this camp.did most of the talking over the next 50 minutes. When the session broke up so McCarthy could take the field for practice, Jerry and Stephen stayed and answered questions for another 10 minutes or so.

“The reality of it is you are continually, continually dealing with much unfinished business. There’s almost no way to segment parts of the running and the evolving of the team from one year to the next. We have specific agreements, and those agreements have all the right terms in them and yet you still might have non-execution of the agreements. We’ve had people with contracts who didn’t come to camp. You’ve got to make that reality. That’s what happens.

“That’s not, in my mind, that’s not in my life. So I don’t ever anticipate it getting any better with the NFL and the Cowboys.’’“We had the highest rate of renewal we’ve ever had on season tickets,’’ Stephen Jones said. Stephen Jones said that more than 99.5 percent of the team’s season ticket holders renewed once the season was done. Those seats that did open up were filled immediately off the team’s waiting list.“I don’t think so,’’ he said. “To be very specific, I do not think this will be his last year with the Cowboys, at all.’’Jones followed that up by saying there are some things in life he’s had to do without because he couldn’t afford it.“Obviously, I want to be here,’’ he said.
