Here are five storylines ahead of the ACC's 2024 media days — and SMU's first in the conference.
The annual ACC Kickoff will take place this week in Charlotte, N.C. and feature the conference’s 17 football programs.
Clemson returns Cade Klubnik, a Texas native, who threw for 2,844 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. But the other top quarterback talent is all new to the conference this year. Florida State and Clemson remain the two favorites to win the conference this year, so their possible exit in the future could send shockwaves and change the conference’s identity. It could land them in the Big Ten or SEC where they could secure even more lucrative media rights deals.
That means — unlike last year when Florida State was snubbed as the fifth-ranked team — the ACC is almost guaranteed at least one spot in the playoff, if not multiple. It is eligible to capture one of the automatic bids as well as the at-large bids.
