The 49ers will seek to add to their NFL-best seven-game winning streak on a special Saturday game on Christmas Eve
But one key to Purdy’s success is the immense amount of talent around him, with a stout offensive line complimenting some elite playmakers. In all three games with Purdy under center, running back Christian McCaffrey has had at least 135 yards from scrimmage .
Perhaps an even bigger key? The league’s top defense, with the 49ers allowing the points and yards per game of any team in the NFL. They’re also third in turnover differential on the season. But Saturday’s opponent, the Commanders, also bring an elite defense to Santa Clara, as they’ve allowed the third-fewest yards per game and have held their opponents to under 20 points per game on average . They also have a top-level special teams unit, which could test San Francisco.
