A 3-year-old girl was critically injured in a suspected DUI crash late Tuesday in Chula Vista, police said. The girl was a passenger in a car involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Palomar Street and Brandywine Avenue shortly before 11:45 p.m., police said. When officers arrived they found the girl unresponsive and rendered first aid. She was transported to a hospital where she was reported in critical condition, police said.
The 26-year-old woman driving the car that the child was riding in was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury and child endangerment, police said. She was being held in county jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to online jail records. A driver and two passengers in the second vehicle complained of pain, and all three were also transported to a hospital. Police said the cause of the crash has not been determined and the investigation is continuing.
