The family member was moving vehicles in a driveway so other children could play and did not see the boy who rode his bike behind the car.
– A 3-year-old boy was hit and killed in Beach Park by a car driven by a family member who did not see the child.
Around noon on Monday, Lake County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence in the 12700 block of West Beach Road for a child who was run over by a vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. Police said an adult family member of the boy was moving cars in the driveway so other children could play basketball. While backing up one of the cars, the boy rode his bicycle behind the car. The family member did not see him.Family members started CPR on the boy until emergency responders arrived.
The boy was taken to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan with"extremely critical injuries" and was later pronounce dead. The Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident.
