One tornado crossed into three states and had peak winds of 130 mph.
The National Weather Service in Allegheny County posted information and photos related to a tornado that crossed from eastern Ohio into the West Virginia panhandle before entering Beaver County, Pa., early Wednesday. It was one of three tornados near Pittsburgh as severe storms moved through the region.
“It is pretty rare for a tornado to cross 3 different states in our region!” the NWS said in a Facebook post. As storms moved east, a third tornado was reported in Westmoreland County, southeast of Pittsburgh around 3:15 a.m. The NWS said it was an EF-1 with peak winds of 100 mph and was 90 yards wide and traveled 1.2 miles.
