UPDATE: Three people are in custody and a fourth possible suspect is being sought after gunmen fired at a police car in West Philly, officials say. New details HERE:
The ordeal began on 54th and Summer streets at 7:41 p.m. when police pulled over a Chevy Tahoe. Gunmen inside the Tahoe then opened fire at police officers who were still inside their vehicle, investigators said. One of the officers fired back at the gunman.
Police arrested three people in connection to the shooting and are looking for a fourth possible suspect. They also recovered a weapon. No officers or civilians were injured during the shooting. Police have not yet revealed if any of the suspects were hurt or what led to the initial traffic stop.This story is developing. Check back for updates.
