£20 million development plans have split Louth between those welcoming bigger names and others who fear it will harm independent shops.
She said:"I'm sorry, but there is absolutely nothing in the town centre now unless you want a charity shop or a cafe. Yes, there are a few independent stores, but most people cannot afford to shop there." Some, like Sam Doyle, shared their experiences from towns that have already undergone similar developments, warning of the detrimental effects on local high streets.
The developers say the plans will boost the local community's prosperity with hundreds of job opportunities and increased low-priced shopping options, although others remain sceptical.
