No, he wasn't caught with performance-enhancing glizzies, he simply signed a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods. Major League Eating issued the following statement in reference to Joey Chestnut's decision to sign with Impossible Foods and his subsequent ban from this event: Major League Eating addresses Joey Chestnut's choice to represent a rival brand, expressing disappointment and hope for his return to Nathan’s Famous.To set the record straight, I do not have a contract with MLE or Nathans and they are looking to change the rules from past years as it relates to other partners I can work with.This is apparently the basis on which I’m being banned, and it doesn’t impact the July 4th event.
Even though the official betting odds are not available, we know that Joey Chestnut will not be included. Miki Sudo, who has won nine of the last 10 women's competitions on July 4, can likely be expected to be the betting favorite again, assuming she participates. Sudo owns the women's world record of downing 48.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes at the competition.Check back for picks when odds are available ahead of the July 4 event.
