The XC90 returns for 2023 with new powertrains, standard AWD, and new trim levels. What are the differences between XC90 models, and which should you buy?

Volvo's captivating three-row SUV receives several updates for 2023 to make it more competitive in its class. The luxury SUV picks up new mild hybrid powertrains and Google-based infotainment software, plus all-wheel drive is now standard on every model. Volvo has also adopted a new trim structure. Forget Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription—it's now about Core, Plus, and Ultimate.

Even though it's the entry-level model, the XC90 Core boasts a generous amount of standard features. Power-folding side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, four-zone climate control system, and third-row A/C vents are included. Its infotainment system includes a 9.0-inch central display, 12.0-inch gauge cluster screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and 10 speakers.

Exterior changes include an upgrade to 20-inch wheels from the Core model's 19s and adds Matte Tech Gray protective lug nut caps that were silver-colored previously. The XC90 Plus also gets a different front grille that uses more chrome and silver instead of black like on the base model.
