) - Two Montgomery men in a stolen car were arrested on gun charges during a traffic stop near a rest stop Wednesday in Mobile County after deputies found a loaded AR-15 on the floorboard, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Interdiction deputies made the stop after following the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro as in made a turn into an Alabama Welcome Center on Interstate 10. When a deputy approached the driver appeared to be attempting to flee while the passenger was reaching toward the floorboard of the car, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to the MCSO, deputies found a short-barreled AR-15 loaded with safety off on the passenger-side floorboard of the car. Burkett and Tallie are both charged with firearm possession/sale short bar. Burkett is also facing a first-degree receiving stolen property charge.
