Temperatures and humidity are on the rise.
Forecast on May 20, 2024CLEVELAND, Ohio - Temperatures are set to soar to near-record levels this afternoon. Some locations could see their first 90-degree readings of the season. The daily record high for both Cleveland and the Akron-Canton area is 91 degrees.
In addition to the heat will be an uptick in humidity. Combined with a nearby front, this may be just enough to spark isolated showers and storms. Not every location would see rain, but those that do would see a slow-moving thunderstorm produce heavy rainfall.Overnight temperatures remain warm in the mid to upper 60s. Quiet weather is expected.
Tuesday is nearly a repeat of Monday. Expect another mostly sunny, hazy, hot, and humid day with high temperatures in the upper 80s to perhaps near 90 degrees in a few spots.Right now the timing of the storms looks to be later in the day, potentially even near or after sunset. How thick cloud cover is in the morning as well as any potential light rain would impact severe potential. For now, the main risks are damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.
Friday will see high temperatures in the mid 70s with rain staying south of Northeast Ohio. With lower humidity, the day will feel much more refreshing. Looking ahead to Memorial Day Weekend, the weather pattern turns unsettled again with rain chances creeping back in. Right now, Sunday and Monday have the highest opportunity for rain, but neither day is expected to be a complete washout.Meanwhile, the team loves to see your weather pictures. Have a picture?
