Abel Kane Filemon was booked into the Dallas County jail last week on a murder charge in the slaying of 17-year-old Jay Gutierrez.
Detectives obtained surveillance video that showed a white Jeep arriving and stopping near where the shooting happened. The video showed Gutierrez walking up to the vehicle before falling to the ground, the affidavit says. The Jeep then sped south onto Cockrell Hill Road.The witness gave detectives a cellphone Gutierrez used, which had an Instagram message appearing to show he was buying drugs from someone who gave him the address and said they would be in a white Jeep, the affidavit says.
When the detective looked through Instagram records, they determined Abel Filemon was a suspect, according to the affidavit. A relative of Filemon had a white Jeep registered to them, the affidavit says. A search warrant for Filemon’s cellphone showed it was southeast of the crime scene shortly after the shooting. The phone’s location was consistent with the vehicle seen in the surveillance video, the affidavit says.
