'He went to prison shortly after for real estate fraud... Justice was served.'

"He claimed that there was over $10,000 worth of damage, then threatened to have my children taken away from me and told me he’d make sure I’d never be able to rent again. So I told him, in the calmest voice possible, to send me a list of the damages and invoices for the repairs and then we could figure out repayment.""Many years ago, my husband and I were renting a house trailer, certainly NOTHING fancy.

When we left, he returned our security deposit but then took us to court for condensation that accumulated in the bedroom due to poor insulation. The judge awarded him half of the deposit. my husband delivered $250 in pennies to him home later that day.""My landlord sent me an email 2 weeks after I'd moved out with a list of all the 'damages' I'd be paying for, which included replacing all the carpet, the appliances, the blinds, pretty much anything thatbe replaced.

"I never heard from the guy again and he never saw a cent from me. Come to find out, he went to prison shortly after for real estate fraud due to lying about occupancy rates in order to obtain loans from the government. Justice was served.""When I was 19 my landlord went into my apartment, looked through my fridge , and called my dad to tell him that I had a 12-pack of beer. I lived in a small town and my dad was the chief of police at the time.

This went on for almost A YEAR. We all lived in fear that this man would obtain a weapon or that his next fire would get out of control and we would lose everything, from our material things to our pets to our loved ones. And while we feared, the management did absolutely nothing but send infuriating emails telling us it was 'being handled' while in reality they were just sitting on their hands waiting for his lease to run out.

I live alone now and have kept that camera on my door at my current place. It even says 'you are now being recorded' when someone enters. It's annoying every time I walk in, but I can always see who enters my apartment.""The place I rented was an apartment inside the main house, and the landlord, his wife, and their child lived above me.
