HURRICANE — A teenage boy was killed and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash near Hurricane, according to troopers.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cam Roden said the rollover crash occurred on state Route 59 just southeast of Hurricane in Apple Valley shortly before 6 a.m. Four teenage boys were in the vehicle which was headed toward Hurricane. After passing a vehicle traveling in the same direction, the boys' car went off the right shoulder of the road when entering its lane. The driver then corrected back to the left but lost control and rolled, Roden said.
The Utah Department of Public Safety said the vehicle came to a stop about 300 feet from the roadway in a field. Three of the vehicle's occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the department said. A 16-year-old boy who was in the rear passenger seat was ejected and killed. The three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital. The boy's identity has not yet been released.
