'The Carrington Event, thought to be the most powerful solar storm in modern history, caused widespread impacts to infrastructure in 1859, and led to an incredibly bright aurora in the night sky.'In that strongest ever Carrington Event there were reports of telegraph lines sparking with the voltages induced in them,' Alan Woodward, a professor of computer science and space weather expert at England's University of Surrey, previously told Newsweek.
