New video shared on X, formerly Twitter, depicted a 12-year-old student being disciplined at school over having a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack.
A Virginia teen is refusing a demand from high school officials to remove two American flags from his pickup truck and is opting to leave the school altogether instead. formerly Twitter, this week depicted a young elementary school student in Colorado Springs, Colorado being removed from class over having a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack.
12-year-old student Jaiden at The Vanguard School in Colorado was kicked out of class for a"Dont Tread on Me" flag patch on his backpack. After the mother asked what would happen if Jaiden didn’t remove the patch, the staffer declared,"The bag can’t go back if it’s got the patch on it, cause we can’t have that in and around other kids."
The mother and Jaiden confronted the educator over the fact that other kids have patches on their backpacks. The mother added that she did not understand the policy that was being enforced. The Vanguard School staff insisted that the Gadsden Flag's origin is tied to slavery and has been associated with modern racist movements.
Yocum also shared a Washington Post article detailing a case involving the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission mandating the U.S. Postal Service to investigate a complaint made by one of its employees. The employee claimed that coworkerThe EEOC never made any judgment on whether racial discrimination came from the flag in that specific case, and on its website, claimed it"did not find that the Gadsden Flag in fact is a racist symbol.
