English dub actors often don’t get the credit they deserve among anime fans, even the ones with the most roles in the business. It isn’t an easy task to not only take on a character whose original voice is beloved by fans, but give a unique performance that makes that character your own. However, many of the best actors in the business have hundreds of roles in their experience.
9 Wendee Lee Wendee Lee has a history in dance, theater, makeup work, and casting direction. However, what most anime fans know her best for is her over forty years of work in dubbing anime. One of her earliest voice roles was Anna in The Swiss Family Robinson: Flone of the Mysterious Island, a 1981 anime based on classic literature.
7 Jamie Marchi Jamie Marchi has the quintessential heroine’s voice. However, fans may not always recognize her in all of her roles, and this is to her benefit. From the lofty tones of Rias Gremory in High School DxD, to the sadistic delight of Junko Enoshima in Danganronpa: The Animation, her performances are striking and fun to watch.
5 Kirk Thornton Kirk Thornton’s gruff, gravelly performances are well-known to many fans of anime and video games. He’s been the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog since 2010 and the voice of Saïx and Isa in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. More to the point, he was the narrator of Bleach from 2006 to 2013.
