Batman's The Dark Knight trilogy stands to many as the best live-action Batman movies ever, and that is due to intriguing stories, gripping action scenes, and, above all, complex characters. There have been many live-action Batman movies over the years, but when director Christopher Nolan took on Batman Begins, the DC character was not nearly doing as well as he is nowadays when it comes to Batman's theatrical appearances.

Bane can be so much more than just a physical threat to the Dark Knight, and Hardy's version of Bane was also a smart character who executed a sound plan to take over Gotham City. That said, Bane was also the action-heavy villain fans have come to expect.
Lucius comes up with Batman's gadgets, making him one of the hero's most trusted allies. One of the best aspects of Freeman's version of Lucius is that he is not afraid to call out Batman when he is wrong. The biggest of such instances comes when he is against Batman's surveillance system, as it takes away the privacy of everyone in Gotham. Lucius was a needed voice of reason for the Bat.
While Batman saves Gotham with a mask, Jim Gordon does so without it. In the middle of a corrupt Gotham City Police Department, Gordon stands as one of the few good cops left. His presence in the movies adds a detective feel to them, perfectly suiting the grounded and dark vibe of Nolan's Batman universe. His strong morals and dedication to keeping the city safe, putting himself in harm's way to do so, serve as inspiration to Batman.
