Several firefighters are battling a blaze at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in far southeast Dallas.
One firefighter was injured, a church was heavily damaged and the longtime pastor managed to escape during a fire in southern Dallas County .Dallas Fire Rescue says a fire started around 12:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Haymarket Road, south of I-20 and west of Highway 175.Pastor P.D. Taylor was working inside the church when he noticed smoke coming from a hallway and got outside as quickly as possible.

We pray to Him because He knew what He did and what He's going to do," said Taylor.Dallas Fire Rescue says 50 firefighters were out here working this 2-alarm fire. One firefighter was injured and transported to a hospital, but is stable.The fire chief says the church offices are likely a total loss. The pastor is hopeful the sanctuary will be able to be salvaged.The cause of the fire is under investigation.
