New footage has emerged of Spurs star Victor Wembanyama instructing teammates to commit hard fouls in the closing minutes of Game 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The incident has sparked debate and could impact the series as it heads into a crucial Game 7.
A new video has surfaced, revealing a demand by Spurs star Victor Wembanyama during Game 5 of the Western Conference finals. The 7-foot-4 center whispered ' hard foul ' to teammates Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee as he exited the game with his team trailing by 14 with 2:20 remaining, according to NBC's play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico.
The clip, which resurfaced during Game 6, shows Wembanyama mouthing the same instruction to Plumlee. Tirico confirmed, 'Hard foul was the message sent to Mason Plumlee, Bismack Biyombo, and you saw just that...
' The first foul occurred when Plumlee elbowed OKC's Jared McCain, knocking him to the floor. The foul was later upgraded to a Flagrant 1 after a league review. NBC analyst Reggie Miller suggested that McCain, who was in the game during garbage minutes, shouldn't have been on the floor. McCain, who scored 20 points in his first start of the series, discussed Plumlee's foul post-game, expressing surprise but respecting the competitive nature of the game.
The Spurs forced a Game 7, with the winner set to face the Knicks in the 2026 NBA Finals beginning June 3
