The United Nations' inclusion of Israel in its 2026 list of countries and organizations accused of conflict-related sexual violence has drawn strong criticism from the Israeli Foreign Ministry. The ministry accused the UN of unfairly targeting Israel and of fabricating baseless accusations against the Jewish state. In response, Israel has announced it will sever all ties with the UN Secretary-General's office until a new secretary-general is appointed.
The United Nations has sparked controversy by including Israel in its 2026 list of countries and organizations accused of conflict-related sexual violence ( CRSV ). The Israel i Foreign Ministry has slammed the move, calling the UN a 'politicized and corrupt organization' that targets Israel unfairly.
The ministry accused UN Secretary-General António Guterres of attempting to create a 'fake symmetry' between Israel and Hamas, and of using his final months in office to fabricate baseless accusations. In response, Israel has announced it will cut all ties with Guterres' office until a new secretary-general is appointed.
This decision comes after a history of tense relations between Israel and the UN, including Guterres placing Israel 'on notice' for the blacklist at the same time as Hamas, and Israel repeatedly denying allegations of abuse
