There were many, many highlights during ITV’s An Audience with Adele, from Dame Emma Thompson’s incredible dancing to the moment Adele had to restart a song. See? Even Adele makes mistakes.

But our favourite moment by far? When Adele reunited with her secondary school English teacher. After being asked who inspired her in life, Adele explained: “She was so bloody cool, so engaging, and she really made us care, and we knew that she cared about us and stuff like that”.

Dame Emma then surprised Adele by inviting her old teacher, Ms McDonald, onto the stage. Cue a whole lot of tears from Adele during the incredible reunion.

Thankfully, Adele’s makeup artist Anthony H. Nyugen was on hand to help fix her makeup (which looked incredible, we'd just like to add).

Anthony stepped onto the stage and began patting at the singer’s face with a beauty sponge. Adele then invited Alan Carr on stage to chat to the audience while her and Anthony stepped to the back of stage, where the makeup artist can be seen continuing to dab at her face.

It makes sense – beauty sponges are usually made with a special type of foam that can hold water, making them handy for mopping up tears and blending out any smudged foundation or concealer.

In fact, even Great British Bake Off contestant Lizzie relied on a beauty sponge to soak up her tears after being eliminated from the competition, which blew our minds.

Looks like this is the beauty hack of the year, guys.
