*Spoilers* Seasons one and two of Netflix's epic thriller series You had us officially gripped. All of Joe's scheming and, of course, murders kept us on the edge of our seats, and we were left with endless theories about what could possibly happen next.

Thankfully, we shouldn't have too much longer to wait to find out. Season three of You officially wrapped filming at the end of April, and it's set to land on Netflix in October 2021.

We know for sure that Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti will return to play Joe and Love, along with loads of brand new cast members, but the plot of season three largely remains a mystery. However, of course, fans of the show have stepped up to provide their wildest theories on what could happen in season three - and some are pretty chilling.

To remind you of where season two ended, we saw Joe and Love setting up for a happy domestic future together, with Love pregnant, though somehow we don't expect it to stay that way for much longer.

The best fan theories for You season three

1. Joe's next victim will be his mum

Season two ended with Joe and Love, who also turned out to have a sinister side of her own, moving into their new house together. But Joe was already fixated on his next obsession: his new neighbour.

Joe’s neighbour in You.

The episode ended with Joe peering through a hole in his neighbour's fence, as he said: "This is just the beginning. Because this is where I had to be, exactly where I had to be, to meet You. There you were with your books and your sunshine, so close but worlds away. I will figure out a way. A way to get to you. See you soon, neighbour."

In a huge plot twist, You fans reckon that the new neighbour in question, and Joe's next victim, could in fact be his estranged mother.

We've seen Joe's mum previously in a few flashback scenes but Joe hasn't seen her since he was young, when he was taken away by a social worker. However, viewers think Joe has now tracked her down - meaning she may potentially become his next victim.

Unfortunately, Penn Badgley, who plays Joe, has since debunked said theory, telling Bustle: "She's definitely not his mum. I can say that." But could she be another member of Joe's long lost family?

2. Joe's next victim will be Beck's mum

Instead of his neighbour and potential next victim being Joe's own mother, some You viewers reckon it could in fact be Beck's mother. Guinevere Beck was of course Joe's first obsession in season one, whom Joe killed once she found out about his crimes - and he framed Dr Nicky for the murder.

The woman on the other side of the fence is seen writing on a piece of paper, with a stack of novels next to her - and, given Beck's love of books and her writing career, viewers think this could be a huge hint that the woman is Beck's mother.

Plus, as Joe walks towards the fence, we hear a bell sound, which some viewers think is the same sound of the bell that rings at the door of Mooney’s, the bookstore where Joe first met Beck - which could be another hint that this person is linked to Beck.

Of course, we know Joe killed Beck, but it's not clear what his motivation might be to track down Beck's mum, other than to keep his obsessions in the family. Or perhaps he wants to make sure the truth about what he did to Beck never comes out.

3. Joe's new neighbour could be Beck herself

For the same reasons that fans think Joe's new neighbour links to Beck and could potentially be her mother, they also think the links could be suggesting that the neighbour is Beck herself.

Although we think Beck was killed by Joe in season one, it wouldn't be totally impossible for her to somehow still be alive. Remember Joe's ex Candace? Thinking she was dead following a fight in the woods, Joe buried her in a shallow grave - only for her to reappear at the end of season one, very much alive.

So, could it be the case that Beck is actually still alive - and Joe's new neighbour - too?

Unfortunately, the identity of Joe's new neighbour has been reported to be a married woman named Natalie, according to TVLine, but that's not to say she won't have any relation to Beck. Could she be Beck with a new identity, or even Beck's sister, as some fans have speculated?

4. Joe and Love will turn against each other

We already learnt that Love has a dark side of her own, once it was revealed that she killed her au pair (and then Delilah and Candace). So, put two murderers in a house together and who knows what will happen? Plus, remember when Joe was about to kill Love and only stopped because she was pregnant? Yep, that doesn't really point towards the pair of them having a happy life together.

Penn Badgley has even hinted towards Joe and Love becoming enemies himself. He told TVLine: "Even Joe says, pretty unequivocally, that they’re not soulmates. He’s afraid of her at the end. Basically, it’s set up for Season 3 in a way where they would be each other’s arch nemesis."

Could this end up with Joe or Love killing each other?

5. Joe might die

Death could certainly be on the cards for Joe, with Penn Badgley telling Entertainment Tonight: "Joe needs justice, but what does that mean? Does that mean prison? Does that mean death? I don't know."

When asked if it’s likely his character could be killed by someone else, he said: "He inevitably will be, right? I mean, he has to be." Could Love be the one to do it? Or will it be one of the many people he's wronged?

6. The baby isn't Joe's

Of course, season two ended with Love pregnant with what we think is hers and Joe's child. However, some fans have a theory that the baby isn't actually Joe's and that it's Milo's, the guy Love was seeing when she briefly broke up with Joe.

Given that Joe only decided not to kill Love once he thought she was pregnant with his child, somehow we don't think Joe finding out that the baby isn't his will go down very well.

Alternatively, some viewers think Love isn't pregnant at all, and she made up the lie in the moment to save her life, keeping it up with a fake baby bump. However, we reckon a fake baby bump might be pretty hard for Love to conceal from Joe - though, of course, that wouldn't be the weirdest thing to happen on this show.

7. Ellie will expose Joe

Joe has so far managed to quite literally get away with murder, but will he manage to escape being found out for much longer?

Ellie, Delilah's younger sister, now hates Joe, and he confessed to her that he murdered Henderson - so she's seen his true colours. However, Joe never hurts children, so Ellie is likely to be safe from Joe's harm even if she does expose him.

Well, we won't have too much longer to wait to find out. Hurry up season three please!
