Half of the population earn less than that, there is nothing to save after paying the bill

We aren't saving enough because for most of our lives we pay off debt, charged interest on that debt that takes a lifetime to settle. We mostly live from paycheck 2 paycheck. Modern day slaves aren't in chains. They are in debt!

Cos there's nothing to save!

Because there's nothing to save. Most employers are not paying as they should, so the imbalance between cost of living and what one earns is a barrier to saving for anything really.
