An eyewitness, who did not wish to be identified, spoke to The Cape Argus. "This morning just after 8am, there was a lady being carried by the police. I think it was about three or four police officers, and they were pulling her by her arms and legs. They just threw her like a hardened criminal into the van."

Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said upon being alerted to the video and the subsequent viewing of the clip, the police officers involved were interviewed and the basis for the arrest was yet to be determined. She said preliminary findings indicated that after being taken to Strand police station, the woman in question was released as detectives could find no basis for her to be charged.

"As the investigation into the conduct of these police officials progresses, police members are cautioned about regard for the rights other persons," she said, adding that courtesy, fairness and treating all persons with dignity was part of police training and orientation.

Potelwa said on a regular basis police members are reminded of internal organisational prescripts that prohibit unbecoming conduct on the part of police officials, especially when interacting with members of the public."A senior police official from the SAPS Western Cape provincial office has undertaken the investigation. Once the probe is finalised the outcome will be made known," Potelwa said.

TheCapeArgus I'll just leave this here... TheCapeArgus Yes it’s about time these law enforcement officers realize they are public servants... the power has gone to their heads...they need to be held accountable just like the rest of us... TheCapeArgus Just a much as any arrest doesn't necessarily mean you have committed crime, police investigate also doesn't mean that the police are at fault. Too quick to judge is wrong

TheCapeArgus This is what the hysteria around the limitation of free movement has wreaked on South Africa. A complete loss of trust after two months of bullying from uniformed police. Irreparable damage to the already moth-eaten reputation of the police force in general. I am so gatvol. TheCapeArgus sy poes arrest that trash

TheCapeArgus welldone to our police we see the hard work you do. Even working with animals at times. but welldone brothers take care out there. more tightness on your grib TheCapeArgus That Communist kleptocratic ANC regime along with their inept police officers needs to be chased out of the Western Cape.

TheCapeArgus She must have done something wrong and resisting arrest is unlawful TheCapeArgus I thought jogging was allowed in the morning TheCapeArgus Why are no arrests made of people socialising in the streets of Strand, during any time of day? South Africa is really a scrap yard I tell you.....tjerrrrr!

TheCapeArgus Allegedly at 7:45am, within exercise hours. Not running in a group. 🤦🏻‍♀️ well done SAPoliceService You have saved us from the most dangerous jogger I’ve seen in a long time 🙄 maybe when they release the 19000 “low risk” prisoners you can keep such a close eye on them! TheCapeArgus But chronically corrupt MYANC members and GovernmentZA ministers continue unabated. Not a single one arrested for stealing food aid. PresidencyZA CyrilRamaphosa you are no better than Zuma because you have completed acquiesced to this blatant criminality. Shame on you!

TheCapeArgus SHE IS RESISTING ARREST ..... why must we be informed of such useless news. Come on. The LAW must take its course. TheCapeArgus Good I hope they get suspended without pay or worse. Fucking Rubbish TheCapeArgus OMG she broke the rules, what was she thinking? Arg! TheCapeArgus Why is she resisting arrest?

TheCapeArgus This will end up like the Ballito case - nothing will be done. TheCapeArgus And if that cop gets shot every body cries. TheCapeArgus Cele's henchmen.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 TheCapeArgus I don’t see wrong conduct there...how are the police suppose to execute their duties Mara? That’s a necessary and reasonable force !!

TheCapeArgus A white lady is arrested and the whole world should rise...mxm TheCapeArgus Enough rise up good citizens rise up against the abuse of our basic human rights TheCapeArgus Fellow South Africans for how much longer will we sit back and allow such blatant abuses of power to continue?
