This announcement has been much anticipated since the last list was revealed in 2019.

Reflecting on the award, head chef at FYN, Tempelhoff said this is a real watershed moment for them, and it means the world.

“And for the announcement to come at this time is huge. We’re really honoured, and I want to give kudos to Jennifer and Ashley and their teams, who strive to perfect everything they do. They’ve rolled with the punches throughout and they’re phenomenal support to me. When you consider how many restaurants there are in the world, it truly is a big deal.

In an Instagram post, the team wrote that receiving this recognition during such a difficult time for the industry means so much. “We’ve been voted No. 81 in what can only be called “The Oscars of Food”, the @theworlds50best! With last year’s awards being postponed due to the pandemic, receiving this recognition during such a difficult time for the industry means so much. As always, we wouldn’t exist without the support of every diner who walks through our doors, and, of course, the global industry who acknowledges the work and creativity our team delivers – we appreciate you more than you could ever realise.
