The minister filed her court papers after midnight, after initially missing the deadline to file at the close of business on Wednesday

Co-operative governance and traditional affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says additional medical literature has bolstered the government’s controversial cigarette ban decision, and renders the first legal challenge to its rationality “clearly unsustainable”.

Dlamini-Zuma states in an affidavit filed shortly after midnight, after initially facing the prospect of being pursued for contempt of court for missing the deadline to file by the close of business on Wednesday, that there is evidence that many smokers have quit as a result of the ban.

Not true Dlamini-Zuma, the poorest never stopped smoking cause you banned it, they are now smoking anything that grows and allot of it is way more detrimental to their health. Where's the logic in that

You ndz are irrational... the fact that you came out with irrational laws, makes me wonder how much you actually know about rights... or is it your way or the highway... I just thank god, he made Ramaphosa president instead of you... just think if you were, poor poor South Africa

No.

How about a sugar ban for that diabetes model,?

This is clearly HER opinion. DlaminiZuma is yet to show us the medical evidence that she always cites in regards to the cigarette ban. Makes me wonder whether the evidence actually exists or is figment of her imagination - to bolster her authoritarian decision making tactics.

No it does not

I am so over this pensioners excuses, no one is listening anymore, you lied and you must face the consequences of your actions

Fukc the ban

DlaminiZuma is evil

Dis-respectable at the least, By the close of business, she submitted after the deadline how can this be acceptable? An affidavit, really should be putting more thought into her responses as more legal cases are mounting

Regardless it’s unfair mean and spiteful

I am going through nicotine withdrawal. 24hrs now. I really feel like, yeah I don't have words for all the feelings. So I used the symptom checker and now I am High risk for covid. I only need the fever.
