Following the aftermath of the season 3 finale where June helped a group of Marthas and children escape Gilead, June and the other handmaids are on the run from the law. season 4 sees June recovering from her injuries after the attack at the airfield and trying to regroup the resistance movement. The series seems to be stuck in a rut, and it is quite frustrating to watch even if one hopes things will get better.
The consequences of June's actions are also starting to be addressed by the narrative. One of the children she sent to Canada is having a difficult time adjusting because he was happy in his home in Gilead, and now he is in a strange land, forced to live with people he doesn't know. There is a scene where Moira and Emily discuss how June just acts without any thought as to how her actions affect others. And this point is reverberated throughout the first three episodes.
