It’s time for us to accept that the Covid-19 pandemic and social isolation are here for a while. But in addition to that, our reality has changed, possibly for good, writes Bongani Nhlapo.

It’s time for us to accept that the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and social isolation are here for a while. But in addition to that, our reality has changed, possibly for good.

“Personal hygiene” and “social distancing protocols” will make up permanent agenda items of organisational governance meetings. It is however very encouraging to see how South Africans from all walks of life have chosen to embrace the necessary and elusive balance between “preserving life and protecting livelihoods”.

Employers should prepare themselves and their employees as far in advance as possible of potentially worsening outbreak conditions.
