JOHANNESBURG - The architect of South Africa's freedom. That's how President Cyril Ramaphosa describes the late struggle icon, Oliver Reginald Tambo. But, there are questions about one aspect of the statue. Tambo’s son, Dali, who confirmed he is the one who begged for the multi-million-rand tender to produce his father’s likeness, defended the inclusion of an ANC logo on the statue."The ANC badge is there and very proudly so. The cross is there, and the Freedom Charter is there. The Freedom Charter was also an ANC initiative. You can't run away from that.
Ramaphosa says more needs to be done to honour struggle stalwarts and promote the history of the liberation struggle.
The anc = the state = the government = the country the citizens. The antithesis of democracy and people's government. Bannish them to North Korea!
Obviously he will...! 🙄🙄
Ja well he's typical ANC only thy can defend the indefensible & I spps he also thnks R13m is justifiable 4 an irrelevant statue & agrees tht SAs go hungry ths point in time I wunda wat OR Tambo wud say 2 tht
Another statue? So one in Terminal A, and another one outside? Why dont they just put one in every toilet while they are about it?
This is absolute BS, no statue displaying the logo of any political party should be allowed to be displayed in a public place and definitely not paid for by the state. The state does not belong to the ANC although the ANC seems to think otherwise.
They use my money ask me how i feel not tambo family please With that 15million how many jobs you can create that's what tambo was fighting for equal opportunity for all
‘Thokoza Memorial! Emagogogweni... ‘An injury to one is an injury to all of us’
Logo must be taken off .....they know
If the c-ANC-er paid for the statue , not a problem , but if TAPAYERS paid for it , it is wrong , it's like when c-ANC-er used the plain to zimbabwe , paybackthefknmoney !!!!!
If the ANC managed to pay the SANDF an amount of R105 000.00 for a hitchhike ride to Zimbabwe, then they must pay Government the money used for the statue. The ANC statues must be put in front of Luthuli house (54 Sauer Street, JHB) and their provincial offices.
Leave the badge. When we finally get to remove these scum from power, it makes it easier to identify which statues we need to tear down.
Cadre payments must be acknowledged 😉 VoetsekANC
There will come a time when future generations will go to the street to remove ANC statues.
DaliTambo: I'd love to know whether ANY of the children of ANC leaders could make a living outside the cushy, SATaxpayer-sponsored world of an ANCGovt position or tender gained through their political contacts! They all seem to get top Govt jobs or lucrative tenders!
DaliTambo: It would be instructive to know how many (if any!) of the children of current ANC leaders work outside the rarified air of Govt positions & tenders? How many are contributing to building SA as teachers, scientists, lawyers, doctors, researchers, journalists etc?!
DaliTambo: I wonder how many of the children of current ANC leaders earn their living outside the world of Govt business & tenders? Could any of them EVER achieve their high-flying lifestyle outside this cushioned world of nepotism & patronage ?!
DaliTambo: The children of the current lot of ANC leaders seem to be doing VERY well in business - but it ALL seems to achieved through Govt business & tenders: Are we expected to believe they are ALL brilliant & this has nothing to do with nepotism & patronage?!
This proves the ANC are compromised
If it's a taxpayers money, this logo of ANC must remove immediately
I agree with DaliTambo (a 2nd generation beneficiary of the ANC's system of nepotism & patronage) that ORTambo can't be divorced from the ANC: So the ANC, and NOT the SATaxpayer, should have paid for the ORTamboStatue, which should have been erected on private land!
So on every memorial to a US President or British Prime Minister their party colours should also be displayed? e.g. Roosevelt(s) (both), Kennedy, Churchill, etc. etc. etc.
Corruption is rampant in the ANC because its cadres like DaliTambo do not recognise or understand that Looting begins with ConflictOfInterest, EthicalTransgressions, Nepotism & crossing the boundary between party & state: ALL of which are problems in the ORTamboStatue!
We South African citizens CA complain all we like the fact is that MYANC won't take the logo out and won't pay any state money back. As long as we keep voting them to power they will continue milking state money... This satue is here to stay despite all the complaints
Very bad taste to do this at all it doesn’t bring food to the table
Im ready to make a plasticine mould of my mom. For a simple contribution of 2 mil this can be yours.
Who paid for the statue? Why is displayed on national assest? Something doesn't add up 🤔
We approve the inclusion of the ANC logo on the statue as well...
It's just a f'$*kn badge, let it be. There's more to life then worrying about useless things..
Entlek dat statue needs to b removed asap.
Perhaps, it means ANC is history, look at the bright side
So let me get dis ryt🙄 we pay tax so dat their children can dictate wat to add der 🙄 why ddnt he do his own statue wit dat kak logo in his bedroom sy muur
He can defend it as much as he wants. If it's got ANC branding then they must pay for it.
That son must fork out the money yerrr
Our ANC is always associated with fraudulent tenders&dubious activities,i wonder what happened.who will then rescue&reclaim myANC if even the sons, daughters&grandchildren of statesmen like Mandela,Tambo&Sisulu have taken lifts on gravy trains😲
We want our tax money back anything associated with the ANC SAns will never respect... Mr Tambo was a liberated man but he will never get the respect he deserves because of what the Anc has become, which is incompetent thieves stealing from the poor. ANC is a thug regime period!
Another scandal after airforce plane is looming,ANC cant distinguish between Party&gov
MahlodiJR nxa
Mxm.
Remove the logo.
Your headline is misleading. Dali made a statement, he didn't defend. Why le le so mara? Ge Julius ale ravasa ra makala. The truth is your stories are inaccurate and trash! Mxm
MahlodiJR Why wouldn't he defend the pockets that feed him.
So he got the tender to build the statue of his father which he opted to brand MYANC but paid by public funds? This statue belongs to the party offices, not national asset such as ortambo_int .
That's fine. But then the anc should have paid for this statue, not the taxpayer.😡 jsteenhuisen
This coming from the guy who got the R13 million tender for this ANC advert. Lol of course he is going to defend, why bite the hand that feeds.
This is a ANC statue and must be removed from public space. They must also payback state Millions of Rands whic they used to build this nonsense statue
Did Dali pay for the statue.....no? Then he must shut up
VoetsekANC 🤮🤮🤮🤮
