South Africa Headlines News

The legal battle began in 2002 between the province and three NPOs– Engo, the Provincial Management Committee of Youth Care Centres and the National Association of Welfare and Not-for-Profit organisations.

Department of basic education spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said two schools in KwaZulu-Natal and one in Gauteng had been targeted.

In a separate incident, two people were killed after allegedly being caught by members of the community while attempting to break into a school in Soweto, where deliveries of essentials had just been made. Basic education minister Angie Motshekga condemned the killings and urged communities to work with law-enforcement officials.

“We appeal to members of the community not to take the law into their own hands. Communities must protect schools against vandalism but must ensure at all times that violence does not occur. We request that the community should rather work with the police to bring suspected perpetrators to justice," she said.

But the loss of property or the loss of life which one have the strongest meaning?

Bheki cele is just interested in arresting smokers and drinkers only, well done sowetans.

Well done to the community while these guys in blue are looking for entjies

You not doing your Job that's why people will do your jobs. Do you jobs and protect SA Citizen not abuse then and treat foreigners with reapect

Bravo, well done to Soweto residence surely other provinces are taking notes how to deal with school vandalism and taking notes we as a community we should look after government property not destroying them.

Am I the only one who believe that in the hindsight the minister is happy that the community is doing something to protect what is their future of their kids

ShashikaNaidoo 1600 schools burned to the ground during covid 19 in South Africa , how did the ANC government protect them ? Too busy concentrating on selling fake cigarettes and alcohol to fund the ANC Politicians !What do you expect people to do?500 billion Rand stolen ! Where is the receipts

We Appel on law enforcement agencies, the judiciary and government to do their job proper. STOP IGNORING US. Do that and there won't be a need for citizens to take the law into their own hands.

Mob justice is the only form of justice in this country at present! Should apply and prove very effective to corrupt law enforcers as well...

I encourage people to take the law into their own hands

Thats a strong massage to all thieves

I wish the community was able to do it in the 1000 other schools which have been burgled. As a country we really have useless police force, if your parent works for SAPS you should be ashamed, do not even serve that person food.

This strong message, let see uf this school will be robbed again

Job well done Soweto community

All of those who swiftly and deliciously solved those criminals need to be put inside a plane ✈ and be given a massive Water Salute

Bulala! !!

Ba balaile

Well done

They did a good mistake minister, thanks to 'Sowetans' ( soweto community) the mother Township of Mzansi 🙌🙌

It's either the government live in a different reality or they are conspiring with the criminals to sabotage their own infrastructure

Well done commuunity

Well done to Umphakathi. May their liquor stores be open today because we owe them bells

Well Done To That Community 🤝

All communities should look out for these thieves

PERHAPS THEY THINK THERE IS NO LAW ANYMORE,WHEN POLICE WILL NOT COME DUE TO LACK OF VEHICLES, AND CONTINUOUS BURING OF SCHOOLS PREVAILS. THAT TO MANY IS A SIGN OF HOPELESSNESS.

No time for opportunistic tendencies. Well done to the community.

Dankie SOWETO!

Bravo to the community, our justice system is wack, besides i don’t feel comfortable feeding criminals with my tax money

Vigilantes seem to be the only logical option lately. The government is truly failing us.

Hale tsebe le batlang yanong 🤷🏽‍♂️

Umphakathi cleaning the filthiness

You have failed. People are doing what they have to in protecting their children’s future as well as themselves.

Eish it's bad but this is what it's come to because there is no enforcement

Congratulations Soweto. It's in our hands to ensure our kids future is protected at all costs!

Her statement is what the saying 'thick as thieves' means. I hope drug dealers are watching what's coming for them too.

Excellent, this is how we'll survive because law is not on our side.

Well done to community

Why not? Police and government not intervening. This is what government asks for on a daily basis by not doing their jobs.

When the community do nothing they are said to be not caring. When they hand the criminals to the police, they are released the following morning. When they deal with the criminals - they are taking the law into their hands. What should we do? Steve_Mabona

SAPoliceService who said dis?

Leadership. That community deserve recognition. 👌🏾

The Soweto I know. Well done🙌

Melim53 Job well done

I think they don't wanna encourage and admit it but i believe that they're praising the mob

Because we can trust you with this one

Well done to Soweto Residents....!

Permanent solution to a recurring problem.,,, well done Mob Justice

I suppose i must applause Soweto residents for what they did , I support their actions. These thiefs are stealing our children future. I think is about time not to listen to these politicians anymore because they are not taking us serious

Well done community

It's time all communities to protect their assets. It's time to own and protect what is given to them. The health, education and well being of our children depends on us. So we will protect their right to education. Criminals must be punished.

The community is tired of being blamed by this incompetent gvt and its police force for everything.

I like it when communities standup to criminals. I wish we can also deal with the criminals that steal government's money.

Amandla community!!

How long before people start breaking into jails..

If government cannot fulfill its primary function, to protect citizens from each other & external aggression, what is its value? 'Nothing turns out to be so oppressive and unjust as a feeble government.' Edmund Burke Government is guilty thro its absence

Hard luck to those late thieving criminals 🤣.

We have to take matters into our own hands. Good for the ppl who sorted these education thieves out. You cannot report anything to the police these days... They simply laugh at you. And that is why crime is 'down' during the lockdown. Well done Soweto.

Very Good

It's time members of community take drastic action against this criminals. How many ppl have police arrested for vandalizing schools? So allow community to sort the mess

Because police are busy chasing cigarettes, slips and alcohol.

They were planning to kill the future of their kids anyway.

If the police did there job in protecting the people instead of looking for cigarette slips, they wouldnt have to👍

This should be a new norm in fact. Mob justice is our last hope because criminals have more rights than victims here in Mzansi. 😞

The community doesn’t take bribes and let criminals free, leaving the case unsolved. Most of SAPoliceService members are an embarrassment to the nation and more....that’s where the community comes in.😊

Melim53 Well done. kill more

Hay shame, do you really believe that will ever happen. You more favouring criminals than innocents. Kill them all.

You are useless mos. They might as well.

Welldone umphakathi. 👏👏

👌👌

The community did well in this case because the law is doing nothing they just condemn nje

Justice at last

So people from soweto knows its wrong to steal? I don't think Eskom_SA is aware of this

I would rather hear what mr Panyaza has to say than Angie...

I heard that it is Zimbabweans, l see this time no Nationality mentioned, 🤔

The community had to do what is best

Well done to the community of Soweto.

Well done amaphoyisa ayahluleka kuqhekezwe more than 1000 schools during lockdown kugcwele ama sosha namaphoyisa kodwa ababonanga nix

Benze kahle. The damage done to schools is disguisting

Melim53 Well done to the community

President handed over the power to us... a criminal's duty is to destroy so it serves them right...

Ngyabonga mphakathi, someone said ' it is in your hands'

Those community members did a commendable job and deserves a Presidential Award of Ikhamanga

Then wena minister go and look after the schools at night ke.

As long as the root of thieving is nipped in the bud , this thing will continue

Good job soweto

Mara the president permitted us mos he said now it is in our hands

Police run if they see the criminals they even vanish from the charge office when you come and report the brake ins well done mphakathi

A thing or two we have to learn from Sowetan... I mean schools are a community assets and it takes a community to safeguard those assets, I grew up learning under the tree & it can't be the same experience for my kids and the future generations

They are stealing our children 's future 😭😭😭

Keep appealing

kele_Tebza Tell judiciary to be also hash on criminal first. We are tired

You are just saying that for the papers, deep down you like 'well done to the community well done'

I be trusting the community to protect and have my back more than the police anyday 💪🏾👏🏾 the police have failed us enough.

Great we need patriotic citizens

Don’t leave them breathing ngandza

kabelodick In the hood umphakathi awudlali, impempe iyashayiwa

Good job residents

It is now in our hands. SAPS can continue sitting down 💺💺 on the Roadblocks

If u steal from a school it is no longer a police or judicial matter. Uzonya

The only way to stop the criminal from commit crime again is to assist him to RIP.

The system let's them go mos

We appeal to government to take the law into its hands. If government did this then there wouldn't e such rampant crime!!!

Minus one problem and the school is saved 🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻

Meanwhile the Police is busy confiscating loose-draws and rizzler in the CBD!

Beachdays3 Citizen justice will rise

Whoever is caught in the act, should be dealt with accordingly.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! KUDOS to them.

Then deploy the troops to safeguard all these school ao

What happened to the soldiers who were deployed seeing that schools are vandalised daily.. shouldn't they be deployed there to protect schools..pple are tired.

🗣️Just say 'Well done for Executing a Good Job the community did' and keep it moving 🙌🤝

Did you guys send this criminals?

Melim53 Don't blame them ... they got their 'cue' (for becoming moral conduct) from the regime's 'state capture' masters ... like 'priest', like 'people'.

We appeal wamasepa akere they're failing. Over 1 thousand schools have been vandalized if they were serious they wouldn't been vandalized

Now its in our hands!

WarAgainstCrime

This is very good.

Good 👏

kabelodick Beautiful work by the residents of Soweto.

I'm pretty sure had the community dealt with him, he wouldn't have done the crime again...

kabelodick The government seems to be hellbent on protecting criminals.

Why don't the police protect the schools, or why don't the DOE get community members involved to guard the schools ? How long is it going to take to repair the schools that were damaged during lockdown ? When will the stolen equipment be replaced ? Or will they be forgotten ?

We appeal to members of the community to please stone everyone caught damaging and stealing from schools to death. Please stop taking pictures and only call the police once they are dead.

What do you do when the law enforcers dont come to the party?🤷🏾‍♂️

Police is failing our communities

Normally criminals protect each other

Good

Job well done

That is why crime in South Africa won't stop 😡, such statement from leaders

Can we really blame communities taking law in their own hands? The inability and incompetence of the police is the direct cause of this- nothing else. This should be a serious wake-up call for govt to start to take crime seriously.

Owo! Police rarely catch these thugs and communities are being blamed for harboring criminals or not caring for their schools. Now you complain when they protect the schools and teach criminals a lesson?

Next it will be ama foreigners PutSACitizensFirstNow PutSouthAfricansFirst

Police very slow to react to our concerns may take several hours before they can show thier visibility therefore in this however what is one expected to do

Good job bahlali

Thank you Soweto

Are you trying to tell us you are the one who send them to still 🙄

ITKHUMALO The community is taking back the law which has long been handed over to criminals by the chief criminals called MYANC government. A job well done by the residents.

Permanent solution implemented, the community deserves to be congratulated

Usebenzile umphakathi..

Dankie Steve_Mabona Lesufi

Nginesiqiniseko sokuthi nawe mama ujabule ngaphakathi

No police patrol what do expect we people to do e Soweto people don't play marbles

You can't take the law into your hands, what do you expect us people to do?

I’m sure the govt doesn’t even mean that, deep down they happy but have to pretend they not. Well done to the community

The President said it him self ' now it's in our hands'

This was bound to happen sooner or later

Big up to communities, it is us members of the community that are feeling the heat when criminals vandalise our school Infrastructure! Now that communities are looking after the schools, criminal activities will eventually subside!

Community 2: Crime 0

Well done to the community the message was sent out there loud a clear what happens when you try and break into a school

Well done to the community. Akuwande kwabanye 🙂

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. you know what I’m talking about? Ask me later I’m still smoking NDZ ZOL 🚬.

I remember last month the soldiers passed by my place after 30 minutes the was a house breaking that's when I knew we not safe asf we must gather and deal with this criminals ourselves 💯clean

Well done to the community. So many schools have been vandalized and broken into and the law enforcement hasn't arrested anyone. How do u work with such law enforcement?

Welldone.

our leadership is too old....they fought apartheid for a minute, now they are too tired to make sense of this. all they want nw is to remain in power and loot as much as they can! their kids dnt attent gov schools yet they r gov😂😂🤣

Let's the community enforce the law, since bhekicele_com and his SAPS can't do their job.

'It is in our hands'

What did the police do? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Good the community is tired of criminals

This thing of not taking the law into our own hands is bullshit. We must watch the illegal immigrants destroy our country while our police are taking bribes from illegal immigrants.

Great job community great job.

Good riddance. Work with law-enforcement to achieve what exactly? Pupils are expected to go to school while some 170+ schools were vandalised, arrested morons are being fed in custody. State will rebuild the schools and KEEP FEEDING THEM CRIMINALS IN JAIL. LOSER: Society

CyrilRamaphosa you deployed 72k SANDF members but criminals are roaming the streets,BhekiCele your mandate isn't only about the rules of Lockdown but the safety in our society including schools, you both failed now let communities deal with this criminals.

No excuse to break into a school and break windows and steal. What will be punishment for those arrested with goods in their homes... Court date after another.. Yerrrr

Wich law

This is a good example why break into schools, it's a crime against humanity, right to education is extremely essential I fully support burning them or stoning them.

bhekicele is busy worried about people smoking while the criminals are vandalizing our schools. Well done to that community for weeding out dirt, because they're clearly tired of lack of policing in their neighborhood.

Wat do u want de community to do fr u?

There is no law in our country akere BhekiCele, NPA_Prosecutes RonaldLamola that's the reason there is so much criminal activities, as soon as the community deal with criminals you hear them police nnywee nnywee 'don't take law into your own hands'

Eish people are tired of criminals, now that's 'it's in your hands'.

Well done community. SAP to busy arresting normal law abiding citizens.

Yes, the communities must just do the right thing

Police arrest then tomorrow you see the criminals again . Well done community

...but deep down..

that's good

Nice one 🙌🏻

Criminals hit Gauteng school, steal protective equipment before teachers' returnThe Gauteng education department has slammed criminals who broke into a school in Tshwane on the eve of teachers' return to schools. But mam Angie did mention this ,that early delivery would cause people to steal DBE_SA which proof do you have that it’s criminals? Don’t say things to the public in hiding of your delays in distributing PPE’s in all schools because of one school, submit in all provinces then see if indeed the same is happening then we can talk about criminals after PPE’s what exactly is going on with education in this country! so i say it again, and again for what it's worth: 'the right people for the right jobs at all times....., it;s the only way or otherwise just stay at home!'
