The arrests, effected by a Special Anti-Corruption Task Team led by Brigadier Tony Perumal and supported by a prosecution team from the NPA’s Investigative Directorate, headed by Hermione Cronje, come after an extensive investigation initiated in 2017 by National Commissioner Khehla Sitole.

Those present included then crime intelligence acting head General King Bhoyi Ngcobo, former Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula’s adviser, Bongani “Bo” Mbindwane, National Commissioner Sitole, Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection and former Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lieutenant-General Lebeoana Tsumane, and Deputy National Commissioner of Management Advisory Services, Major-General Francinah Ntombenhle Vuma.

From the little I understand, the office of the PublicProtector does do good work in the low-profile cases that really helps people. As soon as it is a high-profile case with political implications, the office's record of winning court cases is very bad.
