South Africa's aggressive COVID-19 screening and testing approach is modelled on years of experience fighting tuberculosis and HIV.

"We decided that we shouldn't just wait in hospitals for patients to arrive," said the government's top coronavirus advisor Salim Abdool Karim.

But labs have been struggling to keep up and medical staff say it can now take up to two weeks for test results to arrive, up from an initial two to three days. Health department spokesman Popo Maja admitted that labs were"struggling"."We expected this," he told AFP.Mdlalose sighed in frustration earlier this week as she pulled on protective gear and counted up swab kits to test the 20-odd workers of a community clinic outside Johannesburg.

The health minister has ever said the testing capacity would reach to 30,000 per day in the end of April, but it’s not happening due to the kit supply, and now the result delay are everywhere, we are far behind of the real infection status.

Even when there were only 2,200 samples to process it took SA labs 9 days to return results. Every country has had to increase capacity. Wuhan will be testing all 11M residents & Germany tests all school kids, twice a week! Survival depends on the response

REALLY WHAT DOES THAT STATEMENT “YOU MADE” EVEN “MEAN” !!!!!!!! This is NOT JOURNALISM , IT INCITES PURE “NEGATIVITY”.. “STOP” THESE “UNCALLED FOR” STATEMENTS THAT AMOUNT TO “ABSOLUTELY NOTHING” !!!!!!!!
