For the first time, the horse racing and fashion showcase will be held at a mall and without any actual horse racing, due to the country’s tight Covid-19 regulations.
The last time the race was run was at the Turfontein Racecourse in Johannesburg 2019. Covid-19 also scuppered last year’s race plans.Voguish Marquee organiser Mohau Seema said they chose Mall of Africa to host this year’s event because it’s easier to adhere to Covid-19 regulations. “We have been wanting Somizi to host our marquee for the last three years, but we could not. We finally got him for the third edition of the Voguish Marquee. The reason is that Somizi is very humble and a people’s person.
For the first time in its three-year history, the exclusive event will look to attract a middle-class audience by adding an extra floor in the garden for a lower price, making it more accessible.
