The history of SA dating back to the mid-1600s is the history of centuries of colonisation driven by capitalist expansion from Europe. It is the history of colonial and apartheid rule underpinned by capitalist separate and uneven development as its foundation. This is the history of the wealthy enjoying the proceeds of social labour.
For there can be no capitalism without class inequality. This is the social context in which the richest man on earth, Jeff Bezos in the US, his brother Mark, and others enjoyed in July literally a few minutes’ return trip to space, in the first crewed flight of the rocket ship New Shepard. Similarly, as evidenced by the destruction of Libya by the US and its North Atlantic allies, militarism is used.
