The group is objecting to the general assembly voting to reinstate Barry Hendricks as acting president of the local committee

Aleck Skhosana and four of his SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee board members are on a collision course with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee by pressing on with legal action against the body’s general assembly. But addressing parliament’s portfolio committee on sport‚ Sascoc acting vice-president Skhosana made comments to suggest they were prepared to defy the two mother bodies.

Though this suggestion was adopted‚ it remains to be seen if that will satisfy the IOC and IPC‚ especially considering how Skhosana criticised veteran administrator Sam Ramsamy‚ who was appointed by the two international bodies to facilitate the overdue Sascoc elections‚ which are due on November 7. “As expressly mentioned in the Sascoc constitution‚ the general assembly is the supreme decision-making body of Sascoc‚ and the board is therefore accountable to the general assembly.

Skhosana‚ DA parliamentarian Kobus Marais ‚ Cecilia Molokwane ‚ Jerry Segwaba and Kaya Majeke are objecting to the general assembly voting at the special general meeting to reinstate Barry Hendricks as Sascoc’s acting president and to scrap disciplinary action against him. Skhosana‚ the president of Athletics SA‚ also took a swipe at Hendricks‚ who was at the meeting‚ as well as the Sascoc general assembly‚ claiming they did not care about the Sascoc constitution.
