JOHANNESBURG - Pick n Pay is calling on the government to lift the ban on alcohol sales.

This, as the alcohol industry deals with a crippling fourth ban on the sale of alcohol amid the third wave of COVID-19. Newly appointed CEO, Pieter Boone, says he believes it is now time for the president to announce a lifting of the ban on liquor sales.He highlights the country has hopefully passed the peak of the COVID-19 third wave.

Saying government has to recognise that many independent shopkeepers depend on responsible liquor sales to sustain their businesses, and will not survive another prolonged ban.
