Mamelodi Sundowns are aware that taking on Royal AM will not be a walk in the park as they target another milestone. The Brazilians, fresh from clinching a fifth successive league title and reeling from being knocked out of the CAF Champions League, want a history of winning the treble, having already been crowned MTN8 champions this season.
But Royal AM stand in their way for the Nedbank Cup as the two sides face off in Durban to determine who goes to the final of the competition later this month. “A very good team that is well coached, that’s got history together. It’s not a team that is just Royal AM in a sense that it’s a new team because of the new club, but because 90 percent of the playing personnel comes from Bloemfontein Celtic under the same coach and so there’s longevity, there’s very good cohesion and that is a very big strength of theirs,” Mokwena is quoted as saying on the Downs website.Whoever is victorious will face the winner between Marumo Gallants and Tshakhuma FC.
“We expect a very difficult match and a match that has a team that has very good players. It’s well coached by John and his technical team are doing a fantastic job which is good to see, but we also have a very good team. We’ve got very good players, we’ve got lofty ambitions, we want to be in the final, we are not afraid to say that and we are going to go in Saturday to work to be in the final and try to do our level best that we can to make sure that we are in the final,” explained Mokwena.
