Eskom says the risk of planned power outages remains low this year. This is despite the big maintenance plan at its Koeberg Nuclear Power station in Cape Town that is set to take over five months. SABCNews

the risk of planned power outages remains low this year

The power station was taken offline on Monday after 450 days of uninterrupted power supply to the national grid.South Africans can expect a year of little or no load shedding this year. Eskom made this commitment on Friday during Nersa’s last public hearings. “Just to re-iterate as we’ve said before, Eskom does not plan to load shed during the year, whatever capacity is available we will look to use it in terms of the merit order and if it means utilizing our open cycle gas turbines to meet the demand for the country, we will do that.”

“The Koeberg outages are planned at times of the year when the impact on the overall electricity supply is minimised as far as possible. The extended unavailability of the units due to the planned long outages does mean the electricity supply system may be under additional strain during the coming year.”

SA electricity prices still low, Eskom tells NersaInflation weary consumers who are still struggling to absorb last year’s surge in energy prices will probably not want to hear this This pisses me off. I hope they not comparing prices in $ value because rand is shit with no buying power. It's fact that consumers can't afford such a burden. People don't have jobs for God's sakes. All this means even less will pay now and the burden shifts to taxpayers For a start i deposited R3,500 to test the waters, in 7days I got a return of R12,000 his diligence and honesty is undeniable. Interested persons should contact him Anthony_Claw Eskom_SA but so 8s the salarys that we get .
