This after taxi driver Jabu Baloyi was shot and killed in August, allegedly by a foreign national, in Pretoria.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed that the government will work together with the National Taxi Association to curb the scourge of violence and xenophobia.

He said government engaged with the NTA which voiced its concern over the safety of commuters in taxi ranks. He said it was the responsibility of the country to ensure that women were safe, and urged citizens to say no to gender based violence.
