President Cyril Ramaphosa faces herculean tasks after he gets down to work after Saturday's inauguration.

South Africa has the most advanced infrastructure in the continent, but its commodities-dependent economy has been in a slump for a decade.

In 2017, two of the world's leading ratings agencies S&P Global and Fitch downgraded the country to sub-investment levels. Despite the emergence of a black middle class, 20-percent of black households live in extreme poverty, against 2.9-percent for white households, according to the South African Institute of Race Relations.

Zuma himself is facing trial for alleged corruption relating to a multi-billion-dollar arms deal in the 1990s. He has to balance pressure from the ANC's left and the EFF for expropriation with the need to avoid Zimbabwean-style evictions that would be economically ruinous.

Oupa Magashula also takes public protector to task over report“The indecent haste with which the Public Protector then made public her findings on the 24th of May 2019 is in our client’s view an indication of the fact that little and/or no regard was had to the evidence and supplementary submissions,” Viljoen said. Who cares? Hands-up if you trust this public protector please! 👎👎👎 Do not think the Public Protector has the brains to do this on ger own. She is just a puppet doing what it is told

The Ramaphosa factor saved the ANC's bacon, but the setback to the DA is temporary'Many of them looked to Cyril Ramaphosa and his party. And in their desperation they were prepared to overlook all the flaws, all the corruption and all the broken promises of the past quarter of a century.' Just read ST. 20 mins this week. Usual front page ANC news then few looting revelations then ongoing attacks on DA while ANC has all but destroyed SA into corrupt inept violent heap and EFF incites violence. No wonder Tiso Blackstar in trouble. Little to offer. BD same formula. They're repeating the same mistakes of talking against the Anc, the more they talk the Anc is gaining popularity. Lessons not learned just saying Brilliant article compared to the sneering ,grovelling rubbish by P Bruce on the previous page. The ANC was allowed to get away with 25 years of ruinous government aided by the media for whatever reason
