President Cyril Ramaphosa said SA won't be moving back to Levels 4 or 5 of the lockdown despite the rapid increase of COVID-19 infections

This is according to President Cyril Ramaphosa, who's instead calling on South Africans to protect themselves through social distancing, washing of hands and wearing masks.“The issue of another hard lockdown is something we're not considering now. As I said we are using other tools.

"The issue of losses of jobs is a concerning one to us. Some 31 percent of our people are not working, [it] concerns us as government,” said Ramaphosa.Ramaphosa said government is developing ways of responding to the alarming job losses. “We are developing various ways of responding to the jobs that are being lost. When we moved to the various other levels, including Level 3, we were responding to trying to stem the job losses that could ensue from the hard lockdown,” said Ramaphosa.Ramaphosa has visited Mpumalanga where he inspected health facilities and spoke to matric pupils who've returned to school.
