South Africa Headlines News

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for an end to economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West, as well as for economic interventions in developing economies.

Ramaphosa, who is also chairperson of the AU, was speaking as the organisation marked the 57th anniversary since its establishment in Ethiopia with the vision of uniting the African people for their collective prosperity.

He called on developed countries and multilateral institutions to step up and assist vulnerable countries with financial support and Covid-19 supplies. Ramaphosa said these had to include debt relief and other support measures necessary for economic recovery. More than 90000 Covid-19 infections and 3000 deaths have been recorded on the continent, as individual countries continue to implement measures to contain the spread of the virus, which has been flagged as a major threat to African economies and mostly fragile health-care systems.

He also lamented the on-going military conflicts breeding instability in a number of countries on the continent, and said these had to end.

This is what ANC sees as idols? Guess what they want to turn RSA into...

IT IS NOT OURCPRESIDENT'S DUTY TO FATHER ZIMBABWEANS THANK YOU

I agree my president

Sanctions are not the problem, Constitutionalism is the only problem.

I support him there

Mr Ramaphosa please get your house in order first. It is time to retire your cabinet as they are over the age and are no longer relevant, corrupt and dont server the best interest of SA or place their needs above those of South Africa.

He should be concerned about hos own country!! Meanwhile... 😑

Zanu-PF are the one to blame not sanctions. Call for freedom of Zimbabwe first buffalo

Incredible that SA condones the human rights violations, despotism, economic destruction, stripping the Zimbabwean people of their dignity, by asking for sanctions to be dropped, effectively endorsing the Zimbabwean Government. But then again the ANC is guilty of the same crimes

He should be calling for the Ousting of that Corrupt and Brutal Zanu pf Government that is The Big Problem in Zimbabwe Not Sanctions, They Divert Funds And Aid to Fund their Personal lives enriching themselves while the whole Nation is Suffering !

It's time for countries to ignore the USA and their sanctions. Make China the super power and the USA will start lifting sanctions when they realise they are losing Africa and all its resources to China

But they already are?

Reforms first!!! I don't know what you are not understanding here

But he can't call for the lifting of the ban of cigarettes in the country where he is supposed to govern 🙄he cant govern, he just follows orders, maybe this sanction lifting request also came from his boss zuma

Their struggle is too much seriously!!!!

Add Venezuela, Iran, Cuba and any other country which deposes western-hegemony to that list too, asseblief.
